Filter media
Bioball 220</span
Bioball 220 is made from recycled polypropylene with internal fins and large openings, offering a surface area of 220m²/m³ and the highest voidage (95%) of our filter media range.
Bioball 220 is an excellent alternative to traditional mineral-based media and can replace all or part of the mineral-based media to improve system efficiency where it has become impaired by overloading. The structure and surface textures of the biomedia provide a protected environment to host the beneficial bacteria needed for biological treatment processes.
High voidage plastic filter media, like Bioball 220, eliminate any problems relating to clogging and puddling which are typically associated with traditional gravel, slag and clinker filter beds.
The media can be easily retrofitted into existing wastewater treatment works to upgrade, reactivate and modernise old type biofilter treatment plants – much cheaper than reconstruction of the treatment plants.
